Microsoft’s Global Skills Initiative is an employment support programme developed by Microsoft Japan in collaboration with NPOs and partner organizations. It was created to help people whose employment had been affected by COVID-19 build new skills and explore fresh career possibilities.
Wild Tame’s relationship with Microsoft stretches back to around 2014, when Wild Tame founder Joseph Tame and facilitator Miwo were also running an NPO they had co-founded with friends, originally called Make It Creative and later renamed Hapnik. Through this work, they partnered with Microsoft on workshops held across Japan, focused on empowering young people with digital literacy and creative confidence.
Over time, this collaboration expanded to include programmes supporting new ways of working, particularly around telework. Alongside workshops, we began creating practical materials such as brochures, guides, and “how-to” videos designed to make digital tools more accessible.
When Microsoft Japan launched the Global Skills Initiative, we were invited to build on this shared history by creating a short animation to clearly and engagingly explain the programme. The film sits alongside a broader set of resources, translating complex ideas into approachable visuals that support people navigating change.
