About

Wild Tame was approached by British filmmaker Thomas Beswick to help bring to life a wild music video for the acclaimed group Open Reel Ensemble.

With the help of 700 reels of tape and a meticulously detailed storyboard, the team brought Thomas’ vision to life.

Raw performance, precisely orchestrated

Open Reel Ensemble are known for a deconstructed approach to music, building rhythm and performance from reconfigured reel-to-reel tape machines used as instruments. The video was conceived to reflect that same energy on screen, embracing raw, mechanical, and playful imagery while maintaining a level of polish that supports the band’s distinctive identity on screen.

The project was built around a tightly controlled live-action setup, shaped by significant physical and logistical constraints.
With limited time on set and a performance-led shoot, improvisation wasn’t an option. A detailed storyboard mapped every shot in advance, allowing technical challenges to be resolved before filming began. This approach kept the shoot moving efficiently and ensured attention stayed on the band’s performance rather than the mechanics of production.
Careful preparation allowed the performance to remain raw while execution stayed controlled.
