About

Statement:

In 2024, Japan’s Noto Peninsula experienced a 7.6-magnitude earthquake and torrential flooding that caused severe infrastructure damage and placed enormous emotional strain on small communities. With the region already facing rapid depopulation, local traditions such as the 400-year-old Abare Festival represent more than the preservation of sacred cultural heritage; they also provide vital opportunities for future generations to build community and take pride in their home.

Rising from the Fire is a film about revival and resilience. By sharing Minoru’s story of community rebuilding and the festival’s enduring spirit as a symbol of hope, Wild Tame aims to inspire solidarity and long-term support for the region while drawing renewed attention to local tourism and culture.

Synopsis:

When Minoru Tsujino returns to his hometown in the Noto Peninsula, he finds a community on the brink of disappearing. Determined to preserve its identity, he forms a creative collective to carry forward the traditions and spirit of his home, including the fiery chaos of the town’s 400-year-old Abare Festival. After a series of natural disasters further threatened the region, his mission took on even greater urgency.
