Behind the scenes of our New Year Card
For this year’s virtual card we got experimental, using a free smartphone app to scan our core team of twenty, creating 3D models that could then be made to dance in ways that we wish were possible in reality!
What used to require a huge rig featuring multiple cameras can now be done with your smartphone in minutes.
Using the phone’s sensors and photogrammetry, a 3D model of anyone or anything can be created on the spot.
Using this technique, we created a complete 3D library of our team.
The next step was to move our captured scans into 3D animation software.
Here, we added bone and muscle structures to our virtual selves. These were then connected with motion capture library models to enable us to perform incredible feats.
Joseph was finally able to breakdance - without needing to practice for hours.
The final step was to create a virtual landscape, complete with rabbit holes, that we could all jump out of and party in.
